This is another tip from car forums to help maintain the car air conditioning to last longer and provide clean air circulation in the cabin.

Another project which I have done to my car. A simple DIY job with basic tools and cheap fuel filter. This was to ensure that the throttle body stay clean longer from oil vapour sticking on the sidewall and sensor. Thus will provide accurate signal to the ECU.

Steps to change coolant in Perodua Viva.

The radiator cap. Please read the warning!

Actually this is a very simple task provided the engine has cool down first. All one need to do is first to locate the drainage plug for radiator. Other than that are 2 bottles of Long Life Coolant (LLC- red color as per recommended by Perodua), one bottle equate to 1 litre, but I require about 1.5 litres. 

As far as I know, Perodua is using aluminium radiator. Therefore the red coolant (LLC- Long Life Coolant) is more recommended.

DIY soundproof for FOUR doors

Ingredients for today:

1. 2 piece of superlon (size 3ft x 4 ft x10mm)
2. 1 roll of soundblok
3. Scissor
4. Marker pen

This is what I do to make my Perodua Vivas’ doors sound more solid when closing the door. The normal door will usually have the sound of bare metal (empty can or we call it Milo can sound. Hehehe!). Moreover I can hear noise from outside clearly and it can be very noisy and annoying combine with the engine noise. It is always sensible to do soundproofing to try to insulate the noise as well as heat from outside. In addition with the Malaysian weather, it can be so hot some times. Well the green house effect is becoming nastier every year.



Voltage Stabilizer– My View

This is the Zaptor Gold Edition Voltage Stabilizer

This was among the 1^st thing I bought and installed to my Perodua Viva. I got myself a voltage stabilizer which is Zaptor Acoustic Gold Edition that is waterproof. It cost me MYR 90 including postage. In addition it also said to help improve the overall ICE performance. Let me share the function of a voltage stabilizer. Voltage stabilizer is said to help stabilize the voltage in your car so that there is no leakage or waste of voltage occur.

These are what I felt when using voltage stabilizer:

• Increase engine torque and overall engine response especially for auto transmission car with smoother gear shifting.
• Improve the sound for ICE. The music is more crispy and clear.
• Quicker and easier engine start.
• Reduce the engine noise.
• Alternator is not too stressed; especially when the aircond kicks in.
• Good battery indicator. The light shows if the alternator is charging properly and if the battery is weak.
• Head light brighter.
• Colder aircond.
• Longer battery life.
• Save petrol – actually this depend – on my olskool car it does!

Grounding Cable– My View

When voltage stabilizer is pair with grounding system it improve to strengthen current and voltage in the car. The grounding on the other hand assists to facilitate the current to flow back to the negative terminal effectively and quickly. A lot of people advise to use bigger cable for better/superior result. A grounding cable is measure thru American Wire Gauge (AWG) specification. The lower the number of the AWG the thicker the cable. The normal size available in the market is 8 AWG. If want better cable choose 4 AWG instead with OFC (Oxygen Free Copper). A 5 point grounding cable is enough but it really depend on the car owner preference. It is always good to have more grounding for heavy ICEd cars.

The OEM exhaust system for Perodua Viva 1.0 EZ

I change my Perodua Viva exhaust system from Hotbits. The main reason I do this is to make more power for my Perodua Viva. :) This is because I find it hard to overtake cars whenever it is necessary. So I asked around in forums and do some research.

The easiest and affordable ways to make more power is to upgrade the car intake system. This include to a more high flow air filter to free flow exhaust system.

Why I do not opt for custom made exhaust system is that it is a risky business. This is for the reason that it is all about trial and error. As some people like one set up but some just feel it is lacking to provide more power.

More air equate to more fuel equate to more power. The free flow exhausts system help to ease out the air flow and faster. Subsequently the car can breathe faster during spirited driving. :) This is how I summarize it.

Car Detailing Work

During my free time...i love to wash my Perodua Viva myself. Give the car the proper pamper and care. :) I would like to share the right way to wash car.

This is what I do to help protect my car paint and reduce small scratch or swirls mark on the car. If done thoroughly and correctly, I can get that showroom finish and make the car paint shine like new again.  :) Nevertheless it will take hours of hard work and patience.

First step is to wash the car with proper car wash shampoo. Usually the typical car wash use abrasive washing detergent to your car. So try to avoid washing your car too often at car wash. Sometimes Malaysian weather can also be harsh to car paint work. This is why regular waxing of my car paint is essential to protect the expensive paint work. For me, it is expensive. I’m a small fish only...

Below is the list for maintenance part that need to be change. This info I gather during my service with Perodua Service Centre and also from forum discussion. I hope it will be an accurate guide for whoever who is not sure what to change and when. I will update it from time to time if I overlook any maintenance service that should be included.

No more Perodua Service Centre

Now I have stop servicing my car with Perodua Service Centre. :) So now the time has come for me to try other motor oil for my beloved Perodua Viva. Yeahoo!!!

I start by using engine oil from Eneos® with the weight of 5w30. And also change the automatic transmission fluid (ATF) from Redline® D4. I also change the oil sump nut to a magnetic oil sump nut from Work Engineering®.

Horn from Stebel Magnum Series

Among other upgrade was changing my car horn to a louder horn to warn any road user of my car. This is because the typical horn sounds funny to warn road user of my car existence. Hehehe...

Even though it does not increase any performance in hp...nevertheless the car horn is essential for road safety issue especially to be able to warn other road user of my my Perodua Viva existence in an emergency situation.

These are among my first upgrade for my Perodua Viva 1.0 EZ. Among the many reasons I choose to do this are because I want to improve the car ability for a bit on high speed and more stable to take my favorite corner. As many has guessed, Perodua Viva high speed and cornering ability is a bit floaty. Well these bars does not eliminate these floaty feeling but it helps a lot to reduce it and hence more confidence to step on the pedal a bit more.

Love is in the air.

Sigh…live without love is dull and boring. But is there too much love in this world? However bad the situation…there is always a silver lining in the sky. It is fate and destiny. What we must do is always cherish what we have and never compare it with other people. We deserve what we have now. Nevertheless we must always strive to be the very best and not just depend on our luck. The most important thing is that we are happy and have no worries in our lives. Everyone in this world has their own problem, it is how you manage them makes you the best. During managing these problems we will do trial and errors. Whereas it will either help to solve a problem or make it worse. Also remember always that everyone will make mistakes in their lives, so it is our duty to be forgiving. Furthermore people learn from mistakes and we are not worthy to condemn them on their mistakes. Give other people some space and chance because in the end love is in the air.

Stainless-steel Braided PTFE Brakeline Hose.

Have you ever experienced when you hit the brakes there is a feel of ‘sponginess’? This is due to the original rubber brake hose that expand under high pressure from repeated braking and intense heat. These brake hoses are the medium to communicate to your calipers and brakes when you hit your brake pedal. However the original brake hoses that are fitted to your car is made of rubber due to manufacturer trying to reduce their cost (Duh…).

Furthermore a rubber brake hose is quoted to last for 3 years or 60,000 miles. Therefore have you ever changed your brake hose before or do you even know that you need to replace the brake hose??
